Questions to ask before your student signs a lease.
A good housing decision involves more than rent. Review the room, household expectations, lease dates, included costs, and application process together.

Confirm the complete monthly cost
Ask which utilities are included, whether parking costs extra, how deposits work, and what circumstances can create additional charges.
Read the lease dates carefully
This housing is described as year-round rather than requiring students to vacate between semesters. Verify the exact start date, end date, renewal terms, and early-termination rules in the lease.
Understand shared-room expectations
For a shared room, ask how roommates are selected, how storage is divided, what quiet hours apply, and how concerns are handled.
Discuss the application and guarantor process
Applicants under 18, or applicants who do not independently meet screening requirements, may need a qualified parent or legal guardian to act as guarantor. Do not submit sensitive information until you understand how it will be stored and protected.
Tour and verify
- See the exact room—not only a representative photo
- Walk the route to campus
- Test internet connectivity where practical
- Review locks, lighting, smoke alarms, and emergency procedures
- Get all promises and fees in writing

Ask about current room availability, lease timing, and showing appointments.
